Welcome!

My lab is interested in the principles and mechanics of gene regulation in vivo. Our models are peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPAR) γ and δ - members of the nuclear receptor superfamily of ligand-activated transcription factors. PPARγ and δ null mice provide genetic platforms to study placental development, adipogenesis and adipose function, and insulin sensitization/type II diabetes. Our ultimate goal is mapping the pathways upstream, downstream, and intersecting with the PPARs in the regulation of these processes. To this end, we combine gene targeting strategies and comparative phenotyping with target gene identification and characterization.
