VI. Available data

Although we have published numerous data from our studies, much interesting and valuable data remain unpublished. In this section of our website, we are making some of this information available. Feel free to download and use it. We do request, however, that you credit this site as the source of the data.

Note about unavailable data: All of our data are not yet available on our website. We will be adding more periodically. Data currently available are listed in normal type. Data not yet available are listed in italic type. Please direct questions about unavailable data to Dr. Harrison at david.harrison@jax.org

VI.A. Baseline life spans

We've had many requests for baseline life span statistics for various mouse strains. Following are life span data for standard inbred laboratory strains and for other strains we've studied in our lab.

Historical life span data for most of our strains - View table (1.2MB)

Life span data for other strains
· Diallele cross - View table
· 4-way crosses - View table, View figures
· BxD22
· HI, LOW, HET, wild mice and other long-lived strains

VI.B. Biomarkers

We use biomarkers to quantify aging and senescence. Following are some tables and figures from our biomarker studies, in which we defined and validated biomarkers.

Biomarker data
· Longitudinal biomarker study: treated and untreated groups - View table
· Longitudinal biomarker study: life span > 495 days, with about 10 biomarkers done
at 495 and 675 days - View table
· Biomarker data done at 495 days - View table
· Biomarker data done at 675 days - View table
· Longitudinal biomarker studies:
  - C57BL/6J life span curve - View figure
  - CBA/H-T6J life span curve - View figure
  - B6CBAT6F1 life span curve - View figure

VI.C. Treatments

Many of our studies have tested hypotheses of treatments proposed to delay aging and senescence. Following is information on some of these studies. It is interesting to note that diet restriction is so widely recognized as a treatment to delay aging that we now use diet restricted animals as controls in many of our aging studies.

Diet restriction data
· C57BL/6J males and diet restriction
· C57BL/6J females and diet restriction
· Obesity and diet restriction
· "On-a-day""off-a-day" diet restriction
· Ain76 and diet restriction
· Knapke diet and diet restriction
· Diallele cross with affects of diet restriction on life span and reproduction

Other treatment data
· Dwarf mutation
· "little" mutation
· Deprenyl
· Activated lipid (HDL and LDL) - View table
· Exercise - View figure
· Hypophysectomy
· DHEA sulfate
· Chromium picolinate - View table
· Distilled water - View table
· Trisomic mutation (Down syndrome model)
