Scientifically Speaking is a virtual event series that spotlights the emerging scientific leaders who are shaping tomorrow's breakthroughs.
Join us virtually on Tuesday, September 30 to see how JAX's emerging scientific leaders are reshaping our approach to the human body's innermost workings.
Daniel Alfonso Peñarete, Ph.D., is exploring how the tiny microbes in our gut interact with our immune system — especially in diseases like colorectal cancer and inflammatory bowel conditions. Using state-of-the-art "organ-on-a-chip" technology, he's revealing how these systems communicate and what happens when that balance is disrupted.
Ramalakshmi Ramasamy, Ph.D., studies how aging begins, even before we are born. She is analyzing the human placenta to understand how certain cells stop dividing and start aging during pregnancy. Her work could lead to new insights into pregnancy health at the earliest stages of human development.
All are welcome to attend — scientists and lay audiences alike. Questions? Contact [email protected].
